Rooted in Culture: Part II
Rooted in Culture: Part II — San Diego's Food Culture and Where You Fit In
You know where you come from. Now learn the landscape you're entering.
Part II of the Rooted in Culture series takes the cultural foundation you built in Part I and places it inside San Diego's food ecosystem. You'll explore the six defining features of San Diego's food and beverage scene — cross-border Cali-Baja cuisine, neighborhood-specific identities, agricultural influence, SoCal attitude, craft drinks culture, and immigrant culinary traditions — and learn how to read each one through the Culture Map lens.
Three worksheets guide you through positioning your brand within this landscape: Identifying Your Cultural Role, How Do You Stand Apart, and the Competitive Landscape Exercise. By the end, you'll have a clearer picture of where your brand fits, who else is in the space, and where the real opportunities are.
Rooted in Culture is a three-part series designed to be completed in sequence. Part II builds directly on the worksheets from Part I and sets up the brand-building work in Part III. It can be read on its own for market context, but delivers the most value as part of the complete series.
